The Fortress on the Maota Scarp
Commissioned 1884 CE by Maharana Sajjan Singh // Sisodia Rajputs (Mewar)
Named after Maharana Sajjan Singh, this palace was built to serve as a summer retreat and to provide a vantage point to watch the monsoon clouds gather over the Aravalli hills—hence the name, 'Monsoon Palace'.
Built of white marble, the palace is renowned for its panoramic vistas. The structure features high turrets, large balconies, and central courtyards designed to catch the breeze. It is a stunning example of late 19th-century royal lifestyle.
