The Fortress on the Maota Scarp
Commissioned 1710 CE by Maharana Sangram Singh II // Sisodia Rajputs (Mewar)
Built by Maharana Sangram Singh II for his queen and her 48 maids who accompanied her as part of her dowry. It was designed as a private sanctuary for the ladies to stroll and enjoy nature away from the palace courtyards.
The garden is a masterpiece of hydraulic engineering of the era. The fountains were designed to operate using gravity-fed water from the nearby Fateh Sagar lake, requiring no pumps. It features marble kiosks, lotus pools, and elephant-shaped fountains.
"A testament to the romantic leisure of the Mewar royal household."
