The Fortress on the Maota Scarp
Commissioned 1899 CE by Maharaja Sardar Singh // Rathore Rajputs
Built in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar Singh in memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The site serves as the traditional cremation ground for the Marwar royal family and houses cenotaphs of several rulers.
Constructed using thin, polished sheets of Makrana marble (the same source as the Taj Mahal), the structure appears to change color with the sunlight—glowing gold in the morning and soft silver by evening. It features exquisite jali (lattice) work and intricate carvings.
