The Fortress on the Maota Scarp
Commissioned 1902 CE by Maharaja Ganga Singh // Rathore Rajputs
Commissioned by Maharaja Ganga Singh in memory of his father, Maharaja Lall Singh. It was designed by the British architect Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, blending contemporary European luxury with traditional Rajasthani craftsmanship.
The palace is entirely built of red sandstone, sourced from the Thar Desert. Its architecture is a fascinating hybrid: traditional jharokhas and carved pillars paired with high, colonnaded corridors and expansive lawn layouts that are rarely seen in desert forts.
